Benedict Timothy Carlton Cumberbatch CBE (Londres, 19 de julho de 1976) é um ator britânico conhecido pelo seu papel de Sherlock Holmes na série Sherlock. No cinema, interpretou papéis como o dragão Smaug e o Necromante na trilogia de The Hobbit, Khan em Star Trek: Into Darkness e Julian Assange em The Fifth Estate. Em 2016 protagoniza o filme da Marvel, Doctor Strange. Em 2015 foi nomeado para o Óscar de Melhor Ator pelo seu desempenho como Alan Turing no filme The Imitation Game. Ao longo da sua carreira conquistou um Emmy pelo seu trabalho na série Sherlock .
