Mel Columcille Gerard Gibson (nascido em 3 de janeiro de 1956) é ator, diretor de cinema, produtor e roteirista. Nascido em Peekskill, Nova York, Gibson mudou-se com seus pais para Sydney, Austrália, quando tinha 12 anos e mais tarde estudou atuação no Instituto Nacional de Arte Dramática da Austrália. Depois de aparecer nas séries "Mad Max" e "Arma Letal", Gibson dirigiu e estrelou o vencedor do Oscar "Coração Valente" (1995). Em 2004, ele dirigiu e produziu "A Paixão de Cristo", um filme polêmico, mas de sucesso, que retrata as últimas horas na vida de Jesus Cristo.
