Biografia
James Neville Mason (15 de maio de 1909 – 27 de julho de 1984) foi um ator inglês. Ele alcançou considerável sucesso no cinema britânico antes de se tornar uma estrela em Hollywood. Ao longo de sua carreira, foi indicado a três Oscars, três Globos de Ouro (vencendo uma vez) e dois prêmios BAFTA . Mason começou sua carreira como ator de teatro no West End, antes de fazer a transição para papéis de protagonista em filmes no início da década de 1940. Ele foi o ator mais assistido nas bilheterias do Reino Unido em 1944 e 1945; seus filmes britânicos incluíram "The Seventh Veil" (1945) e " The Wicked Lady" (1945). Ele estrelou "Odd Man Out" (1947), o primeiro filme britânico a receber o prêmio BAFTA de Melhor Filme Britânico . Na década seguinte, Mason mudou-se para os Estados Unidos e estrelou filmes como Nasce Uma Estrela (1954), de George Cukor, pelo qual ganhou o Globo de Ouro de Melhor Ator em Filme de Comédia ou Musical; Intriga Internacional (1959), de Alfred Hitchcock; Lolita (1962), de Stanley Kubrick; O Céu Pode Esperar (1978), de Warren Beatty; e O Veredito (1982), de Sidney Lumet . Ele também estrelou diversos filmes britânicos e americanos de sucesso entre as décadas de 1950 e 1980, incluindo: A Raposa do Deserto (1951), Júlio César (1953), Vinte Mil Léguas Submarinas (1954), Maior que a Vida (1956), Viagem ao Centro da Terra (1959), Georgy Girl (1966), Primavera e Vinho do Porto (1970) e Os Meninos do Brasil (1978). Após sua morte em 1984, suas cinzas foram sepultadas perto do túmulo de seu amigo íntimo, o também ator inglês Sir Charlie Chaplin .
